Fracturing

"Even if a fracturing operation achieves the desired fracture conductivity the perforations not aligned with the fracture may produce only 10% to 30% of the total potential production."

Translation

Even if the Frac Job reaches the desired conductivity and if the explosive perforations are not aligned with the existing natural fractures in the formation, the Frac Job will only produce 10% to 30% of what it should make.

Jet perforation: “This 1/4" to 1/2" tunnel produces an altered, compacted or crushed zone believed to be responsible for permeability of the zone being significantly less than virgin formation by as much as 80%.

Translation: the estimated 1/2" i.d. tunnel produces a compacted or crushed zone that reduces production to approximately only 20% of what a virgin formation would produce.

Perforation size:  “Using a larger hole diameter in sand control completions improves the placement of sand in the perforation tunnels and helps reduce the pressure drop through each individual perforation tunnel for improved flow assurance and well integrity.”

Translation: True- The largest deepest perforation available is the Perf-Drill production tunnel.
